If only there were an easy way to find out how many sites that have been blocked but patrons have not asked to unblock actually should be unblocked. What percentage of blocked sites do patrons ask to unblock?

All these questions come from my writing a blog post and part of it is about stats from a recent Kaiser Family Foundation report that says that 50% of kids ages 8-18 have looked for health information online. I wonder how many kids have not found what they are looking for at the public library due to miscategorized sites, etc.

Sorta a "if a tree fell in the woods" question, but as you seem tech-savvy and focused on whether the filtering is working, I thought I would ask.

Keep up the interesting posts.

Dave,

I am the PR manager at Secure Computing (and a former librarian, but that's another story). I found your post using Technorati, and forwarded it to our web review team, who appreciated your feedback greatly.

Yeah, I like that my library blog is blocked at work just because the URL has "girlie" in it. Bess apparently doesn't like to look at meta tags, or it would know that it's a library blog, not a "girlie" site.
