Yes, 15" lectures. I'm wondering if in my technonewbieness relative to online MPEG production if I'm making the files too large; I've been using YouTube's guidelines. I'll look at Freevlog. Thanks!

Freevlog is a great resource! I'd definitely recommend going through their main set of tutorials - that will help alot. And make sure to check this tutorial from freevlog out also - http://www.freevlog.org/index.php/2005/10/25/create-a-quicktime-mov-from-windows-movie-maker/

It's really about something else... but it's also got great information on what settings to use when you are compressing your video from a large mammoth file to a much smaller one. Worth a peek!

Is that 15 minute lectures? Not sure about the authentication part... but I'd recommend blip.tv - that's where all my videos go right now.

The nice thing about blip is that you can cross-post to the internet archive (so it's in two places), as well as del.icio.us and my own blog as well.

Size limits - from blip.tv's FAQ:

"22. Is there a limit on the size of the video I can upload?

There is no hard limit on the size of videos you upload, but we do recommend that you keep uploaded videos to 100 MB or less for a number of reasons. Check out Freevlog for help in making your videos smaller. We can't guarantee that videos over 100 MB will work well for everybody."

Youtube is also good - the difference? blip allows downloading, Youtube doesn't. Figure out if that's an issue, then pick the best one to suit your needs.

David, a parishioner asked me after church today about video uploading sites that would provide enough space to upload 15" lectures and offer some sort of light authentication (this is for classes in a school that is sort of just breaking into this area). Do you have any recommendations? I suppose one idea would be for him to apply to the YouTube Director program...
