Copied from an email:

    Dav
I have quoted you in my blog and in the forum I am working with, called ASK Ontario.
I quoted your ASK and active participation stuff, for them to consider that we must and should ASK the end-user, the consumer and hence be prosumer. It is to advise that this path is better than, continue to be as we have traditionally been (i.e., what has been so far: by us, for us and of us libraries).
For me, ASK is the term used by my professors at Rutgers, and may be you are aware of this.
Would appreciate if you leave your comments at my blog on the changing dimensions of Librarianship

I have a bitter experience with blog comments. I submit, and then the screen sometimes says, it is accepted (sometimes the comment does not show up) --with no clues about gone-with-the-wind status!

Hence, I am mailing it to you.
Best, Mohamed Taher

I'm in the unusual position of working in both a bookshop (boutique, independent) and my local public library. I really notice the difference in seeking active participation between staff in these two environments, in terms of addressing customers/patrons. A simple 'Are you finding what you're after?' or 'How are you going there?' often gives the person confidence to ask later, and learn more about the library. How can this be done when patrons are using electronic resources rather than browsing the stacks though (privacy concerns)?

Just a thought..how about a dare in your next post? Libloggers ask their users a direct question in their next post, then add the linked question to a comment on your dare post. (Even better..they go to the blog of the person who commented above them and answer the question at the blog. Then they come back here and post their question.)

Hmmmmm...an "inviation to community" ?

Eg...I've just asked <a href="http://librariesinteract.info/2007/01/11/libblog-secondary-resources/" rel="nofollow">What other libblog secondary resources do you use?</a>

Great Article!

I arrived here via yer old Blog - on Blog Printing.

I'd acutally like to engage people on my Blog a little more - I'm spoiled I came from Flickr where people are super for making Comments & there's always lively discussion. Blogs seem like a dead zone when it comes to people commenting - unless of course yer Mike Arrington of TechCrunch!! ;))

I would strongly urge people to Blog Photos from Flickr - fantastic way to get exciting Visual Imagery for their Blog. Flickr to me is a real shining light in the Web2.0 Universe.

U have some really good ideas here Dave!

Cheers! Billy ;))

p.s. the link i came across was www.BlogPrinting.com
