Web 2.0, Emerging Trends, and OPACs – Presentation for CKLS

by davidleeking on May 18, 2007

CKLS attendeesA few days ago, I spoke at the Central Kansas Library System – it was a good day! Here’s a pdf of the presentation I gave.

My personal favorite part of this presentation is the comparison of ordering a book in Amazon vs checking out a book via a library catalog – VERY different user experience!

I was reviewing your presentation as part of my research for an article (thanks! BTW) and I was struck by one of your last comments:
“Web is turning into a digital PLACE”

I’m starting to think it’s actually the other way around That “every place is WEB.” Technology, connectivity, access is becoming so ubiquitous that we are always in web, like we’re “in” electricity or oxygen…

Thanks for spurring interesting thoughts!

Melissa – nice thought! They ARE blending – I have the web in my pocket, so I Am pretty much always connected.

Hmm…
