Walt – I'm saying the talk wasn't useful to me (obviously, my opinion). It wasn't what was advertised in the conference guide – simple as that.

Also – there WAS no critical discussion. Just 4-5 panelists coming up with silly nit-picky things. Really – one panelist claiming the keyboard is bad because he can't successfully use it is NOT critical discussion.

Apple store would be the way to go – the panel didn’t mention it, and I have no experience with it. Sorry!

I need to get details on why an Iphone will not connect to a wireless network with no encryption. The device sees the network and cannot connect. Did anyone discuss this issue at the session?

Good enough. Yes, you’re right: Nitpicking isn’t the same as critical commentary… And also right: Programs that aren’t as advertised are incredibly annoying. Sounds like you’re enjoying SXSW. I would say “some day,” but probably not, lovely though Austin is.

David,

Surely you’re not saying that you have to like something to talk usefully about it? Or, worse, that you have to like it better than any alternative?

Doesn’t that, um, more or less shut out any critical discussion? (Or is that the point?)

You’ve seen 5000 iPhones at SXSW and verified that they’re all being used successfully (as phones?). I’m impressed. That’s a lot of close-up observation.
