Remember my post about Managing Multiple Instagram Accounts? Well, Instagram has just made this simple (at least, the logging in part).
Take a peek at the image in this post (a larger version is on Flickr). Instagram just added a multiple account login feature to their mobile apps.
Here’s how you set it up:
- In your app, click the Accounts icon (on the right side of the menu bar at the bottom of the screen).
- Then you have two choices:
- Click the Settings icon (the “gear” icon). Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and click Add Account. Then add your second account!
- Or click your name up at the top of the screen. A menu drops down that includes Add Account as a choice. Then add that second account.
Once you’ve added a second account, you can toggle back and forth between accounts instead of having to completely log out, then log bak in each time you want to switch accounts.
It’s magic! Ok – not really. It’s a simple user experience improvement that many people have requested. Yay to Instagram for listening!

Needed to create you this very small observation so as to thank you so much yet again for these breathtaking solutions you have provided above. It’s simply surprisingly open-handed of people like you to allow unreservedly all that many individuals would’ve offered for sale as an e-book in making some dough for themselves, precisely considering the fact that you could have done it if you wanted. These suggestions as well served to be a great way to comprehend the rest have similar dream like mine to grasp way more in regard to this problem. I’m certain there are a lot more pleasant occasions ahead for folks who take a look at your site.

There’s still one problem I’m seeing. I just used your trick to have two Instagram accounts between which I can switch easily. But, it seems that Instagram will only link to a single FaceBook account. At least that’s what I’m seeing. In theory, I can post to FB from Instagram by going through tumblr. But the problem with that is that a direct Instagram -> FB link _includes_ the caption with the figure, but if we go the Instagram -> tumblr -> FB approach, there’s no caption with the picture that shows up on FB.
So, as I said, I can send Instagram_1 posts directly to my FB_1 to get the caption, but for some reason, Instagram is refusing to allow me to link Instagram_2 to FB_2. They want me to post Instagram_2 to FB_1. The other three services I care about, twitter, tumblr, and flickr can all be linked to the appropriate Instagram accounts.
My recollection is that before the recent Instagram make over, I could do the log-in/out trick and be linked to all four other social media accounts appropriately. But, either I recalled incorrectly, or something got broken with respect to FB after the Instagram update. Do you have any ideas?

Hmm… I just tried connecting my library’s Instagram account, and it seemed to work fine. I’m pointing to two different Facebook accounts. Of course, I haven’t seen an image go through yet, so the verdict is still out.
But in both settings areas, they are pointing to different accounts. Not sure what’s going on with yours!

I logged out of Instagram_2. Then when I tried logging back in, I had to reauthorize tumblr, flickr, and twitter. But when I tried reauthorizing FB, they told me I was already connected. I just had to re-link. But what re-linked was FB_1, and I confirmed today that posting from Instagram_2 with FB enabled caused something to post on FB_1. Something else is borked, however, because nothing showed up on tumblr_2, twitter_2, nor flickr_2, all of which are alleged to be linked correctly. Weird indeed.
Fortunately, it doesn’t much matter yet. The second account is for some scheme a friend of mine is concocting. He doesn’t appear to be in a hurry.
